Charles Crozat Converse (October 7, 1832 – October 18, 1918) was an American attorney who also worked as a composer of church songs.

Charles Crozart Converse, a New England lawyer,
Earned a small spot in the musical foyer,
He wrote the tune FRIENDSHIP, the words were by Scriven,
Its place in the hymnal is largely a given.
Be it ever so humble, the hymn is a favorite,
The high church may grumble, but low churches savor it.
And such a success on one’s musical journey
Is really not bad for a humdrum attorney.
