Carl Friedrich Christian Fasch (18 November 1736 - 3 August 1800) was a German composer, harpsichordist, and choral director.

In 1756 he began service at the court of Frederick the Great of Prussia, where he served as deputy to Court harpsichordist C.P. E. Bach. In 1791 he founded the Sing-Akademie in Berlin which quickly became an important center of Berlin's musical life.-- adapted from Wikipedia

Had a career we shouldn’t josh.
He showed precocious artistry,
And early was a V.I.P.
With duties to accompany
For Fred the Great, with C.P.E.,
(That’s Bach), and what is more, that he
Began the Sing-akademie,
(Berlin’s, that is), where he would be
Until he died at 63.
