Adolphe Adam (24 July 1803 – 3 May 1856) was a French composer remembered for his ballets, especially Giselle and Le Corsaire, and for his Christmas song known in English as "O Holy Night".
At the Ballet
Adolphe Adam composed Giselle,
Which ballet lovers think is swell.
And balletomanes are well aware
Of finer points in Le Corsaire.
They say his scores for dance are rich
In just the sort of music which
Animates the graceful trickery
Of the votives of Terpsichore.
