The Segreto of Success

He wrote more than eighty operas, the best known of which is Il matrimonio segreto, Cimarosa's only work still to be regularly performed. – adapted from Wikipedia, s.v. “Domenico Cimarosa“ and “Il matrimonio segreto

Raise your glass while I propose a

Toast to honor Cimarosa,

Whose eighty operas (give or take),

Deserve some candles and some cake!

Forgetting lest it spoil the fun

That only one is ever done.

Damning with Faint Praise

In 1804 he became Music director of the Witterschen Schauspielergesellschaft in Ballenstedt.  – adapted translation from MGG

Johann Friedrich Schubert was and is

Of no importance to the music biz,

Although I have no doubt he made the most

Of his Witterschen Schauspielergesellschaft post.
