Fritz Reiner (19
December 1888 – 15 November 1963) was a widely revered conductor best
remember for his years with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Lines for Reiner
“He clearly had a sadistic streak in him, and truly enjoyed making musicians uncomfortable, making them squirm, humiliating them. He was the type (who)… inflicted his particular sadistic gratifications in a coolly clinical, perfectly controlled manner.” - Gunther Schuller on Fritz Reiner
Nothing could be fine
Than a symphony with Reiner
In the morning,
Nothing could be sweeter
Than when reiner bests the meter,
But this warning…
If you ever quibble with what he has to say,
Pack your bags, and plead the fifth, and call it a day.
Though your fault was minor.,
Maestro Reiner’s the headliner…
In the morning.
Giuseppe Giordani (19 December 1751 – 4 January 1798) was an Italian composer, mainly of opera.
You CAN Takes That Away from Me
Until recently, the popular aria "Caro Mio Ben" was ascribed to Giuseppe Giordani. However, scholars now consider Tommaso Giordani, or his father Giuseppe Giordani senior, more likely to be the aria's composer. - Wikipedia
Giuseppe Giordani wrote “Caro mio ben,”
At least the anthologies said so,
But now there are doubts that it came from his pen,
At least, I have recently read so.
