Lauritz Melchior (20 March 1890 – 18 March 1973) was a Danish-American Heldentenor, and one of the great Wagner tenors of all time.
Hero Worship
Lauritz Melchior, renowned
For making lots and lots of sound,
Had the perfect voice to sing
Tristan, Parsifal, the Ring.
He impressed the Wagner crowd
By singing long and singing loud --
And even if your seats weren’t near him
You could rest assured you’d hear him!
