Alan Hovhaness (8 March 1911 – 21 June 2000) was a prolific American composer of Armenian descent.
[Previous entries for March 8th may be read here: C. P. E. Bach (2019) and Carlo Gesualdo.]
Eclectic
Alan Hovhaness wrote oodles of pieces,
(I’d give you a list, but the list never ceases),
With dozens of symphonies, hundreds of opuses,
It’s a wonder he managed his multiple focuses.
Incessantly scribbling without neurasthenia,
He somehow avoided acute schizophrenia
While tapping the East, and the West, and Armenia.
