October 17 - Herbert Howells; Shinichi Suzuki; Eminem

Herbert Howells (17 October 1892 – 23 February 1983) was an English composer whose choral music is still an important part of the repertoire.

In Vestment Advice

You can sing choral music by Howells
Without wearing cassocks or cowls,
But a cope or biretta
Can help you to set a
Mood for high Anglican vowels.

Shinichi Suzuki (17 October 1898 – 26 January 1998) was a music educator especially known for his methods you teaching violin and piano to very young children.

Method or Madness

If your kid wants to play the bouzouki,
You can steer them to something less kooky
With a small violin
Tucked under their chin,
And a tutor who teaches Suzuki.

Eminem (b. 17 October 1972) is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer, record executive, film producer, and actor.

I Would Thou Wert Cold or Hot.

There are those who enjoy Eminem,
And those who take issue with them.
And those who just flip flop
When speaking of hip hop
And neither applaud nor condemn.
