Paul Francis Webster (20 December 1907 – 18 March 1984) was an American lyricist for some of the most successful songs of the mid-twentieth century.
Just Saying
Paul Francis Webster got
Three Oscars for his rhymes,
And yet his name is not
Well-known in recent times.
But if you’ve “had it bad,”
Or “had a secret love,”
Or if you’ve ever had
A “walk with God” above,
If “the shadow of a smile”
Has made you want to sing,
If love was for awhile,
“A many-splendored thing,”
Then Webster’s lyrics were
The source for your expression,
By focusing the blur
Of this or that obsession.
