Otto Goldschmidt (21 August 1829 – 24 February 1907) was a German composer, conductor and pianist, and husband of the "Swedish Nightingale", soprano Jenny Lind.
Connection
From Mendelssohn, Goldschmidt received this student certificate: "Mr. Goldschmidt has developed a fine talent for piano playing in gratifying manner and also has shown not insignificant talent in composition for his instrument." -- Wikipedia
Goldschmidt, a talent from all that we hear,
Would have had on his own a respectable life,
But it couldn’t have hurt his young musical career
When he took Jenny Lind as his virtuous wife.

Count Basie (21 August 1904 – 26 April 1984) was an American jazz pianist, organist, bandleader, and composer.
Standards
However, throughout the 1940s, he maintained a big band that possessed an infectious rhythmic beat, an enthusiastic team spirit, and a long list of inspired and talented jazz soloists. -- Wikipedia
If someone scanned
Count Basie’s band
They’d see first hand
The way the stand
Was always manned
To keep command
Of Basie’s brand;
As tours were planned
Throughout the land,
He led them and
He played the grand.
