Charles Ives (20 October 1874 – 19 May 1954) is arguably the greatest composer the United States has yet produced.
Failed Mission?
Was Ives ever bothered by fears,
As he challenged respectable ears,
That at the conclusion,
Instead of confusion.
The patrons might greet him with cheers?

Lyfting Spirits
There is a young man who plays Ives
In the Lyft that he expertly drives.
It’s not by request,
But he thinks it adds zest
To some arid quotidian lives.
