Charles Tomlinson Griffes (17 September 1884 – 8 April 1920) was an American composer.
Over There!
Griffes was fascinated by the exotic, mysterious sound of the French Impressionists, and was compositionally much influenced by them while he was in Europe. His later works make him the most famous American representative of musical impressionism. – adapted from Wikipedia
The French impressionists impress him,
And something in their style possessed him,
So in his works we hear and see
Ravel and also Debussy,
But thus did Griffes seek to quench
His thirst for music of the French.
