John Hill Hewitt (11 July 1801 - 7 October 1890) was an American composer, playwright, and poet.

Antônio Carlos Gomes (11 July 1836 – 16 September 1896) was a Brazilian opera composer, and the first composer from the Americas whose work was widely accepted by Europe.
