Impulse Buy

Near the grocery check out aisle,

Tabloids in a tidy pile

Feature Dolly Parton’s smile

To lure you, as you wait awhile,

With gossip and latest dish you

Cannot know without this issue.

So toss the tempting magazine

On which the country star is seen,

Into your cart with can and carton

And go through check out with Miss Parton.

John Weldon (19 January 1676 – 7 May 1736) was an English composer.

Where Credit Is Due

In 1716 a performance of The Tempest was advertised with 'all the musick compos'd by Mr Weldon and perform'd compleat, as at the revival of the play', and some scholars now believe that the music to Purcell's semi-opera, The Tempest, was actually Weldon's work. – www.bate.ox.ac.uk/john-weldon-1676-1736

John Weldon’s heirs should sue for reimbursal

If they can find the heirs of Henry Purcell.

I won’t maintain that anyone was bribed,

When music for The Tempest was ascribed

To Henry Purcell, who, it’s true, excelled in

This sort of thing, but likewise did John Weldon.

But scholars say that evidence today

Hints Weldon wrote this music for  the play;

And thus it is that Mr. Weldon’s heirs

Should find a legal advocate who cares,

And claim The Tempest’s royalties as theirs.
