Although he was a Catholic priest, da Ponte led a dissolute life. While priest of the church of San Luca, he took a mistress, with whom he had two children. -- adapted from Wikipedia
Lorenzo da Ponte,
In his dissolute life,
Was a priest who had children,
But, of course, not a wife.
His life and finances
Were iffy and yet he
Gave his composers
Outstanding libretti.
You’ve probably remembered
By now, it was he
Who authored the texts
For Mozart's Big Three.
